Jeffrey Berman has devoted 35 years to the design of healthcare facilities. He is a Board Certified Healthcare Architect and a founding member of the American College of Healthcare Architects. His extensive background in science, technology and engineering make him an invaluable consultant both to healthcare institutions and to other architects.

Since founding Jeffrey Berman Architect in 1988, Mr. Berman has been on the leading edge of healthcare design, designing facilities for the major healthcare institutions throughout the New York area, including Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, New York Presbyterian Hospital (Columbia, Weill Cornell Medicine, The Allen Hospital, Lawrence Hospital, Hudson Valley, Brooklyn Methodist Hospital and NY Downtown campuses), NYU Langone Health, New York Health and Hospitals Corporation (Harlem Hospital, Woodhull Medical and Mental Health Center, Lincoln Hospital Medical and Mental Health Center, Bellevue Hospital campuses) SUNY Downstate, Northwell Health, The Veterans Administration Health System (Brooklyn and Northport campuses) and Valley Health.

Jeffrey Berman has a 20-year history with New York Presbyterian Hospital, working on 8 of its campuses. Recent projects have included planning and programing for a Cath Lab and Angio Suite for Lawrence Hospital; EPG equipment upgrades across 3 campuses; the expansion of The Allen Hospital Campus, including an MRI suite and a roof garden, two Spinal OR’s and support areas and two endoscopy surgery rooms and an endoscopy prep and recovery suite to support volume growth; and an MRI suite and x-ray rooms at the Weill Cornell campus; Hudson Valley Radiology Master Plan, Cath Labs and MRI.

Mr. Berman was selected to design the Master Plan for the expansion and modernization of the Radiology, Radiation Oncology and Nuclear Medicine Departments at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center. His work there also included long term strategic planning and specialty technology consulting for the Lauder Breast and Imaging Center and the Josie Robertson Ambulatory Surgery Center, which represents his fifth generation of OR design over the last 12 years for MSKCC. These have included the development of early image-integrated ORs, the first intra-operative MR ORs and the first advanced image-guided interventional ORs.

Mr. Berman was the architect for a 2-vault IBA Proton Beam facility and a large Surgical SkillsTeaching and Simulation Center for University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. He has also worked at Columbia University Medical Center on a research MRI and the Pain Medicine Center for the Department of Anesthesia. He has completed a MRI facility for Columbia Doctors and aSimulation Lab for the Department of Anesthesia. Jeffrey Berman Architect was selected to design the transition of CUMC’s College of Dental Medicine curriculum and clinical practice to digital dentistry from traditional dentistry.

Ambulatory Surgery Centers designed by Mr. Berman have included the Surgical Day Hospital and Center for Image Guided Intervention, Josie Robertson Ambulatory Surgery Center and the Lauder Breast and Imaging Center for MSKCC, Brooklyn Surgery Center, Lower Manhattan Radiation Oncology for New York Presbyterian Hospital, Carnegie Hill Endoscopy Center, Island Digestive Health Center as well as numerous medical offices.
