The design of the the expansion and modernization of the MSKCC Nuclear Medicine Department was part of a multi-phase, multi-year rebuilding of the entire Radiation Oncology Department. The project included replacement of existing equipment with two new PET/CT scanners, installation of 8 newly developed “skylight” Gamma Camera Systems, a new waiting area and physician offices, and a new ground-level entrance lobby. The renovation of the 12,000 square foot Department included patient injection rooms, hot waiting areas, a hot lab reading rooms, a radio pharmacy and public corridors. Open glass control areas for each exam room allow close contact and improved communication between staff and patient during procedures.
