Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center
Radiation Oncology Department Expansion
Location: New York, NY
Size: 30,000 square feet
Project Type: Master Planning, Equipment
Replacement & Renovation
The master plan was evolutionary and implemented over a period of 10 years, room by room and suite by suite, coinciding with MSKCC’s annual equipment upgrade schedule and reflecting changes in staff workflow, acuity of patients and focus of the Department. Project scope included the expansion and renovation of the exam room suite encompassing reception, administrative and waiting areas; upgrade of 10 linear accelerators; and multiple design solutions for a variety of clinic models utilizing high-end design and finishes. Beginning with the master plan, all of the work in the Radiation Oncology Department was intentioned, directed and focused on this transformation that, coupled with technology development and adoption in the Radiology Department, culminated in the Center for Image-Guided Intervention completed in June 2010.
