SUNY Downstate selected Jeffrey Berman Architect to create a state-of-the-art MRI Suite with equipment capable of meeting the needs of its patients and enabling Downstate to fulfill its mission of educating future physicians and research scientists. The new GE MRI enhances University Hospital’s capabilities in myriad areas, including diagnostic services for breast cancer, whole body oncology, cardiac services, stroke, and pediatric imaging. It produces shorter and faster scans, decreasing patient waiting time.

JBA modified existing facilities to support new equipment and a new equipment manufacturer and worked in an occupied radiology space that required coordination with surrounding critical care areas. We prepared temporary patient access to a mobile MRI during construction.
