Columbia University Medical Center’s new Pain Medicine Center consists of 4,000 square feet in midtown Manhattan. The suite includes clinical exam and treatment rooms, offices, a resource room, and support spaces for the Department of Anesthesiology’s outpatient pain management facility. 

Although the space for the Pain Medicine Center is small, it supports a large staff and accommodates a volume of 20 exam/consult patients and 20 procedures per day. Acoustical performance and separation in this small space, keys to patient comfort and privacy, are achieved through appropriate construction detailing and finishes selection.
