NEW YORK-PRESBYTERIAN BROOKLYN METHODIST HOSPITAL

Ambulatory Diagnostic Radiology

Location: Brooklyn, NY
Size: 9,000 square feet
Project Type: New Facility

The outpatient diagnostic radiology components of New York Methodist Hospital had evolved in scattered sites around their Park Slope, Brooklyn campus in the years since their major modernization was completed in the 1950’s. While the distribution of these assets made sense at the time they were initially developed, modern operations requirements and the need to provide an enhanced patient experience in a comprehensive imaging facility was apparent.

The selected site on the ground floor between the major entrances and lobbies on the site was chosen as the best location due to its easy access and public location for patient visits for MD appointments or for pre-admission testing. Its location also provided access for technical staff and physicians.

The program included an MR, CT, general X-ray and fluoroscopy and ultrasound. A segregated area was provided for ultrasound and mammography. The program provided comfortable, small-scale waiting and reception areas with appropriate private dressing and private gowned waiting areas.

The planning for the project supported the replacement of all equipment with no downtime or loss of revenue. The relocations to make room for the project created a new in-patient registration and receiving suite to manage discharges, scheduling, check-in and bed assignment.
